Alta Communications

Alta Communications is a Boston based telecommunications investment firm formed in late 1996 as part of a transition of Burr, Egan Deleage & Co, a venture capital firm founded in 1979 and which invested in information technology, communications, and healthcare/biotechnology companies. Alta's founding partners, the former communications investing group of Burr, Egan, Deleage & Co., formed Alta Communications to focus exclusively on the communications industry. In addition to over $1 billion under management at Alta Communications, the partners of Alta continue to manage approximately $250 million under the Burr, Egan, Deleage & Co. funds.

The partners of Alta have been one of the most active investment teams in the telecommunications industry over the past decade. They have invested in a wide variety of wired and wireless telecommunications companies in several industry sectors, including competitive local and long distance voice services, cellular and PCS service companies, broadband service providers, satellite video and data providers, shared tenant service providers, and DSL based and other data service providers.
