Vice President of Network Engineering & Operations
Mr. Andersen has worked in the communications industry for over 30 years. In 1973, he began traveling the Midwest as a contract installer for Nye Electronics, Blunt, SD. Later, as the company’s foreman, he handled billing, customer relations, and technical training. In 1977, he joined F.M. Keller Communications as a contract cable TV splicer working in South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa. During his early years with Keller, Mr. Andersen and Keller established Tri-State Cable TV and built their first seven cable systems. Even though Mr. Andersen retained his job responsibilities with Keller, in 1983 he was appointed Tri-State’s General Manager and was responsible for the design, engineering and construction of an additional 37 turnkey cable plants for other multiple system operators. Douglas Communications North acquired Tri-State in 1986, along with several other systems. Mr. Andersen, being part of the Tri-State/Keller Communications acquisition, became the Chief Engineer for 26 cable systems in the region, later being promoted to General Manager of the company. In 1995, the Douglas North holdings were sold to five different companies, and Dakota Telecommunications Group recruited Mr. Andersen.
As Manager of DTG Cable Operations, Mr. Andersen directed the first HFC overbuilds in South Dakota. In June 1999, Mr. Andersen was promoted to Vice President of Network, Engineering and Operations. His responsibilities include Central Office Engineering and Operations, Outside Plant Engineering and Operations, Broadband Engineering and Operations, Service Implementation and Repair, Fiber Management, and Network Provisioning. |
