Bill Heaston is the General Counsel for Knology, Inc., headquartered in Sioux Falls,
SD. He holds a BA from Creighton University, a JD from
the Creighton University School of Law, and an LLM
from the New York University School of Law. Bill retired
from the U.S. Army in 1986 after 21 years of service
in the JAG Corps. He served in Vietnam, Europe, West
Point, Alaska, Kansas and Washington, DC. His awards
include the Legion of Merit and two Bronze Stars. From
1986 to 1998, Bill was a Senior Attorney for U S WEST
(nka Qwest), providing legal support and advice for
its operations principally in North Dakota, South Dakota
and Wyoming.
In 1998 Bill became the General Counsel for Dakota Telecommunications
Group (“DTG”) until its acquisition by McLeodUSA
in 1999. He was a Deputy General Counsel for McLeodUSA
providing legal advice on wholesale, carrier and major
customer contractual matters, state regulatory issues,
and the business to business relationship with Qwest.
In 2002 Knology acquired the former
DTG operation from McLeodUSA, and Bill remained with
the operation as a part of the acquisition. He became
the General Counsel for Knology in 2003. His practice
of law involves corporate governance, state and federal
regulation, and lobbying industry issues before state
and federal legislative and administrative bodies. He
is admitted to practice law in Colorado, Minnesota, Nebraska
and South Dakota. |
