Q. Where do I start?

To reach the Knology webmail log in page, please click on webmail from the Online Service tab from the www.Knology.com website, or type https://webmail.iw.net in the address bar of Internet Explorer or the browser of your preference. You will now be located at the login screen.

Q. How do I log in to Knology webmail?
A.
To log in, type your user-id, typically the first part of your e-mail address, in the Username field. (Note: Do not include the @iw.net portion of your e-mail address.) Next, type the password associated with your user-id in the Password field. (Note: Both the user-id and password should be in all lower case letters.) Finally, click on the Login button, or just hit Enter on your keyboard.

Q. What is the first thing I will see after logging into Knology webmail?
A.
The first time you log in to Knology webmail you will see the options screen. Any logins after the first time will bring you to your Inbox. All of your e-mails should appear at this time. Any e-mail you have received on your regular mail client will stay in that mail program and will not appear on this screen. You will only see messages in the inbox that were left on the mail server.

Q. Do I need to change any settings the first time I log in to Knology webmail?
A.
We recommend that the first time you log in to Knology webmail, you change the personal profile to reflect your personal preferences. Checking or un-checking these options will affect your mailbox settings.

Your Details:
·Signatures: Lets you setup your own signature such as your name or company’s name. You can also include your favorite saying or links that interest you.
·Personal profile: Allows you to change the display name, reply address and the time setting on your outgoing e-mails. Knology recommends changing the Display name.

Setup Options: Checking or un-checking these options will affect your mailbox settings.
· Filtering rules: Once you have set up folders in your webmail, you can use this feature to direct your incoming mail to different folders.
·Message list settings: Choose how often your webmail will check for new mail and how many e-mails to display per page. The fewer the number of messages you display per page the faster they will appear on the screen.

Advanced options: Choosing to modify these options will allow you to change the way your name and e-mail address is displayed when sending messages.
· Check other e-mail accounts: Set up Knology Webmail to check your other e-mail accounts.
· Settings for new messages: Change the options used when creating a new e-mail.
· Message display settings: Change the options used when displaying an e-mail.
· Check other e-mail accounts: Set up Knology Webmail to check your other e-mail accounts.
· Webmail filtering Rules: Once you have set up folders in your webmail, you can use this feature to direct your incoming mail to different folders.

Q. Can I change my general and personal options any time I wish?
A.
Yes. While we recommend that you make changes to the options the first time you log in, you are able update those changes at any time.

Q. How can I organize my e-mails in Knology webmail?
A.
Knology webmail allows you to create folders in which to store your e-mails.
· To create a new folder, click the “Folders” button at the top. Next, enter the name of the folder that you wish to create in the Folder name box and click the “Create” button on the top. Your list of folders will now be revised with the folder you just added.
· To move a message, to a folder, locate the message in the inbox that you wish to move. Next, select the message by placing a check next to it. Then, select the destination folder from the drop-down list of folders at the top, center of this page. Finally, click the “Copy/Move” button.

Q. Am I able to check external e-mail accounts (other than my Knology account)?
A.
Yes. Knology webmail allows you to enter multiple external e-mail accounts to monitor. To enter external e-mail accounts, click the “Options” button at the top. Next, click “Advanced” options. Finally, click “Check other e-mail accounts”.
· Host: Enter the e-mail host or server name in this box. Ie: pop3.iw.net
· Username: Enter the username for the e-mail account you want to monitor.
· Password: Enter the password associated with the e-mail account you want to monitor.
· Account symbol: Choose which symbol you want to associate mail with this account.
· When you are finished with these settings click the “Add” button. (Note: External e-mail messages count towards your storage limit. It is recommended that you keep your Inbox clean.)

Q. How do I display an individual message in my Inbox?
A.
To display an individual message, click on the subject of the message you wish to view. The individual message will be displayed below the list of e-mails. If the message does not have a subject, you will see the words No Subject, which you can click on to view that message. Knology’s webmail does have a preview pane feature. To display the preview pane, go to Options, Message list settings, and remove the check next to “Don’t display preview pane”.

Q. What do the Prev and Next buttons at the side of individual messages do?
A.
The Prev and Next buttons will take you either to the message before the one you are reading or the message after the one you are reading.

Q. How am I able to respond to individual messages?
A.
Individual messages contain command buttons on the top, that allow you to reply to, reply to all, forward, or delete the message. After choosing to reply, reply to all, or forward, click in the body to type your message. When done typing your message, click “Send”, to send it immediately or “Save”, to send it later. If you click “Cancel”, the message will not be saved or sent.

Q. Is there an address book available in Knology webmail? How do I add to it?
A.
There is an address book in Knology webmail. Click on the “Address” button at the top. Fill in Nickname, Full Name (with the person’s actual name), and enter their e-mail address in E-mail Address. You can also enter the person’s phone numbers, fax numbers and street address. Finally, click “Save entry” and the new address is saved in your address book. You have the ability to import your addresses from your Outlook Express address book. Click here for screen shots to help you with this.

Q. Once I have addresses in my address book, how do I use them to send messages?
A.
When composing a message, click the “Address” button to the right of the To: line. Next, click on the e-mail address of the contact you wish to add. You may do this as many times as needed. Click “Done” at the top when you are finished.

Q. How do I compose a new message in Knology webmail?
A.
To compose a new message, click the “New” button on the top. There are individual settings at the top of the new message page. These settings can be set to your personal preference. They allow you to set the priority to urgent, choose a signature, choose the content/type of your e-mail, keep copies of your sent message, and to request a return confirmation.

    · To: List the address(es) you wish to send the message to.
    · Reply to: This is automatically populated with your e-mail address.
    · Subject: Type the subject of your e-mail here.
    · CC and BCC: These can be used as needed.
    · Attached: Click “Attach” on the side to attach any files or pictures you want to send. You can also store attachments in your webmail. You can see the amount of stored attachments in the graphic on the side. To remove stored attachments, click the “Delete” button on the right. Any attachments you save here will go towards your storage limit of 50 mb, remember to remove any unwanted attachments. The Current attachments graphic shows the attachments that are attached to this new e-mail. When you are done with the attachments, click the Return to Message button on the top.
    · Clear: Allows you to clear the To address you typed in.
    · Address: Allows you to add an address from your address book to the new e-mail message.
    · Spelling: This will check the spelling in your message.

    Style text window: will allow you to change the text style.
    · Click in the body of the message to type your message.
    · When done typing your message, click “Send”, to send it immediately or pick the folder you would like to save it in and click “Save”, to send it later.

Q. How do I delete messages from my Knology webmail inbox?
A.
To delete a message from your inbox, put a check in the box next to the message(s) you want to delete. When you have chosen all the unwanted messages, click the "Delete" button on the top menu.

Q. How do I log out of Knology webmail?
A.
Simply click Log Out when you are finished using Knology webmail.

Q. How do I empty my Trash folder?
A.
While you are in your Inbox, you will see the word "purge" beside your Trash folder. You can click the word "purge" to empty your "Trash" folder. If you are in your Trash folder you will not see the word "purge". You can delete messages individually from inside the Trash folder; you need to check the box next to the message you want to remove, then click the “delete” button on the top of the page. Make sure to empty your trash often. Any messages in the trash will count towards your 50 mb storage limit.

Q. How can I make sure I don’t lose important e-mails?

If you don’t want to lose important e-mails you should download your e-mail with an e-mail client such as Outlook Express. Outlook Express will remove your e-mails from Knology’s server and store them on your computer’s hard drive. E-mails stored on your computer’s hard drive do not count against your 50 mb of storage.

Q. How much storage is included with webmail?
A.
Each e-mail address has 50 mb of e-mail storage. Be sure to keep your personal folders and inbox clean.

Q. What happens when I have exceeded my storage limit?
A.
When the full 50 mb of storage is used (either from storage of old e-mails or from one large e-mail being sent) those sending you e-mail will get a message that your mailbox is full and the e-mail will be returned to the sender.

Q. Do I receive a notification that I have exceeded my storage limit?
A.
If your inbox and folders reach 80% of 50 mb, you will receive an e-mail warning you that your e-mail box is almost full.
