Configuring
for Internet Access on Windows XP:
Windows XP - Network Setup
(Black Hills Only)
Step
1 |
Left click
on “Start”, then click on “Control
Panel”. This will bring up the Windows
Control Panel.

Step

Click on
the “Network and Internet Connections” icon.

Step
3 |
Next, click
on the “Network Connections” icon.
This will open the “Network Connections” window.

Step

Now,
double click on the “Local
Area Connection” icon.

Step

Now,
click on the “Properties” button.
This will bring up the “Local
Area Connection” properties
window.

Step
6 |
Under
the “General” tab,
select “Internet Protocol
(TCP/IP)” by left clicking
on it then click the “Properties” button.

Step
7 |
Under
the “General” tab,
make sure that the check boxes
next to “Obtain an IP
address automatically” and “Obtain
DNS server addresses automatically” are
selected. If they are not,
left click the check boxes
to select them. When finished,
click on the “OK” button.

Step
8 |
In
the “Local Area Connection
Properties” window,
click the “OK” button
to exit.
|
Step
9 |
Finally,
click on the “X” in
the upper right hand corner
to close the “Network
Connections” window.

Congratulations!
Your computer should now be ready
to go online.
